With wall-to-wall carpets, you will not go wrong. The advantages of carpets are many. For one, wall-to-wall carpets offer many practical benefits, such as superior comfort, attractive, acoustic and thermal qualities as well as greater safety compared to hard surface alternatives. Above this, though, wall-to-wall carpets can be a vehicle for expression. Carpet design can be likened to storytelling. Through your carpet selections and the way you employ them, you set the mood of a space, creating an environment that tells occupants how space should be used.
For the carpet coat to be suitable for its intended use and to provide optimum performance, the type of fiber and weave used in the carpet vary. Many properties such as fiber selection, yarn thickness, pile height, the base type should be carefully selected for the desired purpose.
A high-quality carpet coat increases the respectability of the space used. The total user cost of the carpet is extremely low. Total user cost; product cost, upholstery cost, maintenance cost, and product life. Industrial research has shown that the total user cost in Carpeting provides up to 35% advantage over other hard floor coverings.
Carpet coat is easily installed and can be applied to all floor surfaces. This feature; saves time and cost in finishing new buildings in all spaces and redecorating those in use. There are special varieties for each place. Carpet coat maintenance is much easier and cheaper than other floor coverings. A quality carpet coat saves up to 40% of maintenance costs.
Acoustic tests between carpet and hard floor coverings have shown that carpet coat absorbs 10 times more atmospheric noise. The carpet coat eliminates footsteps, echo, and hum. It creates a quiet, calm, peaceful and more productive environment. The carpet coat of average quality absorbs 30 decibels.
Carpet coat is the safest floor covering. Hard floors (especially when wet) can be slippery and dangerous. It eliminates the possibility of accidents and therefore injuries. Carpet coat is an efficient material for providing thermal insulation. The use of it can save up to 15% energy. Carpeted rooms are very easy to heat and maintain the ambient temperature.
Bacteria and germs cannot grow in carpets that have been chosen for the purpose and have been cleaned and cared for by regular and correct methods. The atmospheric pollution dust particles in carpet coated spaces are much less than half of that compared to hard floor coverings. Regular tests conducted by international industrial research institutes have proven that the finished carpet does not contain harmful substances and deposits.
The rubber-bottom ones of the carpet coats are used in places where the sound of the impact is undesirable especially because it prevents the impact sound. Those produced entirely with polyester or similar artificial fibers do not transfer static electricity to the floor mat under the carpet, causing static electricity to accumulate on those walking on it. Generally, it should be known that the difficulty in cleaning such carpets increases with the increase of pile height and it should be taken into consideration that it is objectionable to use in places where hygiene is important.
Soft and flexible carpet surface makes a cushion effect. It provides great benefits and a positive contribution to the prevention of back and joint pain as it distributes body weight in a balanced way. Color, pattern, and texture are particularly important on large surfaces and when used as a dominant decoration element.
Carpet coating patterns divide the visibility of the interior. Large patterns provide a sense of narrow space in space, small patterns provide a sense of large space. Choosing the most suitable color and pattern for the traffic level and pollution intensity of the environment significantly reduces the need for maintenance and costs. Maximum dirt hiding performance is achieved with irregular colors or irregular patterns. Carpets of medium darkness with as many colorful and irregular patterns as possible provide the most balanced performance in places that will be exposed to heavy traffic.
Commercial Carpet Coating: Since commercial areas are areas that are exposed to heavy traffic, commercial carpet coats should be preferred. It should be noted that not all carpets available for sale in the market are suitable for heavy traffic use.
Wall to Wall Carpet & Commercial Carpet Coat Design: Carpet design is a combination of color, pattern, and texture. The most important element in a design is the place and purpose of the carpet. Therefore, wall-to-wall carpets are divided into two main disciplines.
Carpet coating suitable for home use: Comfort feeling is at the forefront. Its color, pattern, and texture are suitable for home decoration and traffic density. There are almost sub-disciplines that can be called almost unlimited.
Carpet coating suitable for intensive use: Durability is in the foreground. Performance and maintenance requirements are designed for high traffic use. Stain resistance is at the highest level. There are also some extra advantages such as anti-flammability and antistatic properties. It should be preferred especially for hotels, resorts, banks, businesses, and shopping centers.
Wall-to-wall carpets: It offers extremely simple, flat, independent designs, as well as unlimited options, ranging from exciting designs to moving designs that influence other elements in the environment. In principle, it is okay to prefer carpets suitable for intensive use for the home. It is not possible for a carpet produced for houses to be able to withstand if exposed to intensive use.
The first step in the carpet coat selection process is the analysis of current and expected traffic density. If the location is redecorated, the aging and tearing rates on the old carpet are a good guide. In general, there are three types of traffic; heavy traffic, medium traffic, and light traffic.
Areas that require special protection against dirt and stains are extremely easy to identify. Entrance, public halls, food, and beverage services require more protection from dirt and stains. For these areas, contract carpet coats with a high level of dirt and stain protection should be preferred. It should be noted that such carpets have advantages and they are easier to clean.
The need to reach the cables (electricity, telephone, computer, etc.) to be kept under the carpet coat should be considered at the beginning and attention should be paid to the use of built-in inserts developed for this purpose.

How to Make Carpet Coating
Carpet coats are mounted on the floor in various ways. TS 5627 describes four methods for this:
- Laying with stretching method
- Fully bonded flooring
- Partially bonded flooring
- Free Flooring
The surface on which the carpet coats are to be applied must be dry, smooth, crack-free and dust-free. All types of screed, smooth surface reinforced concrete flooring and tile coatings can be used as a base for these carpets. To provide more flexibility in walking and to improve heat and sound insulation, it is recommended to put felt under such carpets.
The methods of the laying of the carpet coat are different applications. In order to obtain long-term performance from the carpet, it must be furnished in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and in the correct manner. The two most commonly used methods for laying wall-to-wall carpets are; gluing and placing on the base.
Depending on the performance expectancy and the size of the area to be laid, one or both of these methods can be applied together. The direct bonding method is the best choice for large areas exposed to heavy or wheeled traffic where size stabilization is critical. Laying on the base is more suitable for situations where more softness (comfort) is required and extra noise reduction is desired. Whichever method is preferred, the installation work must be carried out on a level, dry, clean surface and by qualified flooring personnel.
Carpet Coating/ Wall-To-Wall Carpet Styles
Loop pile: Loop pile carpeting achieves a soft and smooth look and feel, through looping yarn. With loop pile carpeting, you can combine higher and lower loops to play with texture and pattern.
Cut pile: Cut pile carpets achieve a more formal, or luxurious look and often appear darker than loop pile carpets comprised of the same yarn type. Cut pile wall-to-wall carpets are created by cutting yarn loops to create an upright pile.
Cut and loop pile: Cut and loop pile carpets, made up of a combination of cut and looped yarns, allow for sculptured effects – such as squares or swirls – and a wide range of patterns and styles.
